Self-hosting

Requirements and installation guidance for operating Widefleet on your own infrastructure.

Run the Widefleet platform in your own environment. Your team builds and deploys apps; you operate management, app runtimes, identity integration, updates and backups.

For a first look without company SSO or DNS configuration, use the local quickstart.

Requirements

  • A Linux x86-64 host with Docker Engine 29.8.1 and Docker Compose 2.20.0 or newer.
  • A management hostname and a separate app domain with DNS and HTTPS configured.
  • PostgreSQL and object storage, either on the host or supplied by external services.
  • Microsoft Entra or another supported OpenID Connect provider for company sign-in.
  • An operator responsible for upgrades, monitoring, backups and recovery.

Published platform images include the required runtime and setup tools. The operator host does not need a local Node.js, pnpm or Rust installation.

Install the platform

Follow the single-host installation guide for the maintained Compose configuration and commands. Run its commands from a checkout of the matching release. It covers:

  1. Configuring domains, database and storage credentials, persistent data and TLS.
  2. Starting the platform and creating the first administrator.
  3. Connecting management and app sign-in to your identity provider.
  4. Verifying company sign-in before completing setup.
  5. Operating, upgrading and recovering the installation.

Keep first setup accessible only to the installing administrator, or configure the documented bootstrap file before exposing it. The first person who completes setup becomes the installation owner.

External services

The default Compose configuration uses PostgreSQL and RustFS. See external services and automatic HTTPS for external PostgreSQL, cloud storage and certificate options, and storage backends for supported storage configurations and their verification limits.

Operate the installation
